Protect Your Lungs from Wildfire Smoke
There may be smoke in the air this weekend. This is a good reminder to keep your own air (and lungs) as clear as possible. If you don’t have one yet, consider buying an indoor air filter, preferably with a HEPA filter. Be sure to change the filters in any air conditioner you might have as well.
The California Air Resources Board provides guidelines and lists of approved systems to help you find the right filter for you.
Keep in mind that popular ionizing air filters produce ozone (smog), and may not meet California standards. Your best bet is to look for mechanical air filters that can be changed periodically.
Current and forecasted air quality is also available at the AirNow site. This is an excellent resource if you are making plans for outdoor activities, and their interactive map displays real-time conditions.
