Home Hardening Education Program

For Firewise Groups

To assist residents in Alameda and Contra Costa County, DFSC offers a free program called Five Easy Actions, an informative, 90-minute hands-on talk to discuss home hardening for your FIREWISE group.

The talk shares 5 EASY LOW-COST ACTIONS you can take NOW to harden your home.

  • Learn about some of the lower cost actions you can do to make your home more resistant to fire.

  • See samples of qualifying vent screens and other ignition-resistant materials.

  • Understand how upcoming fire code changes could impact you in the future.

  • Q&A session.

  • Satisfies FIREWISE Action Plan requirements.

DFSC home hardening specialist, Sheryl Drinkwater, and members of your local fire agency collaborate on the presentation. Sheryl, a licensed architect, has spent the past two years working with cities and communities to assist FIREWISE neighborhoods in prioritizing actions that they can take to help make their homes more ignition resistant and increase home survivability.
